Kate Aukes writes dark, emotionally immersive fiction across romantasy, horror, suspense, and thrillers, along with memoir drawn from lived experience. No matter the genre, she tends to return to the same things: complicated people, dangerous choices, tenderness under pressure, and the question of what we hold on to when everything else starts to fall apart.

When she isn’t writing, Kate is usually deep in another story, rearranging fictional lives in her head, or starting a project she definitely had no business adding to the list. She has a particular weakness for complicated characters, beautiful books, and stories that hurt a little before they let you breathe again.

Her work moves between imagined darkness and real survival, but the heart of it stays the same: people trying to make sense of what happened to them, what they owe one another, and what it means to keep going.
